FOOTBALL FOR ALL CLUB IN MANORHAMILTON
Leitrim County Council in association with the FAI are delighted to announce an exciting initiative planned for children with special needs over August with the Football for All Club programme.
Currently Leitrim County Council and the FAI run a community soccer programme in Leitrim. One of the aims of this community soccer programme is to promote Sport and Physical Activity among Adults & Chi...ldren with Disabilities in Leitrim and to raise the awareness on the benefits of their participation. Leitrim County Council and the FAI aims to work with key stakeholders including local community, voluntary and statutory organisations to help create an environment where everyone is welcomed and valued in sport, irrespective of ability.
‘Football for All Club’ programme is taking a step in a new direction in 2010 following on from the ‘Goal to Enjoy’ programmes with the emphasis on creating opportunities for the children with disabilities to access regular football through their local soccer club. Manorhamilton Rangers FC has agreed to take part in this programme which will create an inclusive environment in their club and within the local community. There has been four clubs set up in Dublin under this programme and now thanks to Manor Rangers this will be the first Club link set up in Leitrim and indeed the west.
‘Football for All Club’ will run as a four week programme each Saturday throughout the month of August. The training will take place from 12pm to 1.30pm and will start on Saturday, August 7th in the Bee Park Community Centre in Manorhamilton, there will be short soccer training for children with different additional needs e.g. children with learning disability or children with physical or sensory disability.
