Qualifying Date – The qualifying date for ordinary residence is 1st September in the year preceding the year in which the Register comes into force (15th February each year)Draft Register (Printed on Pink Paper) – The Draft Register is published on 1st November each year and incorporates all amendments, which have been received up to that date. The Draft Register is available for inspection at County Council Offices, Libraries, Post Offices and Garda Stations. It is advisable for everybody to check the Draft Register at this stage so as to ensure that they are on the Register and that their details are correct. As a new Register is prepared each year, being on the Register before does not guarantee that you will be included in the new Register
Claims – Claims for additions, deletions and/or amendments to the Draft Register must be submitted to Leitrim County Council by 25th November. A list of all Claims received is published on 30th November. These claims are then adjudicated on by the County Register in December at Revision Courts held in the local Electoral areas. Interested parties are notified of the decision of the County Register on their Claim and an appeal lies to the Circuit Court.
The Live Register (Printed on White Paper) – The Live Register is published on 1st February and comes into force on 15th February. The Live Register is available for inspection at County Council Offices, Libraries, Post Offices and Garda Stations. This Live Register is then used at every election and/or Referendum held in the following 12 months.
